My Favorite Female Vocalists

I've been a bit scared to make this post, as this can be a topic that a lot of people disagree on. These are my top ten favorite female vocalists. They're not in order as it is already hard enough to limit myself to ten spots, and I know I'm going to be forgetting some amazing vocalists. I understand. Alright, with that out of the way, let's start with number ten.

10. Carrie Underwood

I've loved Carrie Underwood since her American Idol days. I still think she's the best thing to come out of that show (sorry Kelly Clarkson fans). This girl can sing. I've seen her live, and it's crazy to me that she can sing better live than she can on her studio album. She has great control, and her range isn't half bad.

9. Whitney Houston

This one is a bit obvious, but hey, you can't have a top vocalist list without Whitney Houston. No one can sing like Whitney Houston. Everyone covers her songs, but no one can do them justice because she is one of a kind. Her tone is absolutely beautiful, and she has such a wide range. The power behind the notes she sings is indescribable.

8. Adele

Another probably obvious one, but again Adele is one of the best. She's another person that can only do her songs justice. People try to cover Adele songs, and it just doesn't work. Adele has such a big voice. It's a voice that could fill up a room and entrance you. She doesn't have to make a big spectacle when she performs because the spectacle is her voice.

7. Perrie Edwards

This one is a bit of a curveball, but I just really love her voice. Perrie Edwards is a part of Little Mix, and while the rest of the girls all have lovely voices, Edwards definitely shines through. The notes she can hit on a daily basis are insane. Her vocal runs are so beautiful, and the control she has is genuinely amazing. (In the videos, she's the blonde one)

6. Jennifer Hudson

Another American Idol girl. Unfortunately she didn't win, but who cares when you have a voice like that. Jennifer Hudson has some serious pipes on her. Her voice is huge, and she knows how to use it. Her voice is soulful and so powerful. She's also won an Academy Award, so she's pretty cool.

5. Jessie J

At this point, I have a feeling someone's reading this and thinks that I have no idea what I'm talking about. Yes, Jessie J sings pop music that doesn't really showcase her amazing vocals, so anonymous reader don't feel bad that you didn't know Jessie J was phenomenal. Just watch these videos.

4. Lea Michele

If you've ever watched or seen an episode of Glee, then you probably know that Lea Michele can sing. She has a Broadway voice, and it's obvious. She exhibits almost perfect control over her voice, and she knows how to convey emotion effortlessly. She's got a voice that gives you chills.

3. Idina Menzel

It felt right to put Idina after Lea Michele. Idina Menzel is another Broadway voice and has been in multiple large Broadway productions. She has a voice that can carry a whole show. She certainly has the vocal technique to make amazing runs, and her range is so large. Another completely unique voice.

2. Beyoncé

Whether you like her or not, you have to admit that she can sing. Beyoncé can belt out a note like no other. Her voice is really versatile though, because she can also sing very soft and nice when the occasion arises. Her voice is filled with a lot of passion and power.

1. Celine Dion

This is an obvious one. Again, these artists aren't in order, but if they were, Celine Dion would be somewhere along the top of my list. If anyone makes singing sound effortless, it's Celine Dion. Breathtaking voice that is so powerful and clear.

Oh goodness, I've missed so many amazing singers. Here's some honorable mentions, so I feel less awful about all the singers I missed.

1. Amber Riley
2. Mariah Carey
3. Barbara Streisand
4. Aretha Franklin
5. Christina Aguilera
