Mumford & Sons....Or Coldplay?

I meant to do this many weeks ago, but better late than never eh? If you weren't aware, Mumford and Sons are officially done with their hiatus, and they have recently released a new single off of their yet to be released third album. The track is titled "Believe", and many people were a bit confused. Listen to the song first, and you'll probably see what I mean.

So, yeah. It's a bit different then the typical banjo-esque sound that most fans are used to. I have read a lot of reviews that liken the song to "A Sky Full of Stars" by Coldplay. While I can definitely see that comparison, I don't know if I necessarily agree with it. "A Sky Full of Stars" is a song that is really upbeat and whimsical. "Believe" definitely has some aspects of this, but I think that it is deeper. It is not just an upbeat and fun song.

There is an emotion behind the music that only Mumford and Sons can pull off. M&S have always been one of my favorite bands because of the emotion that their music and lyrics combined can convey. This song speaks to their ability to be flexible and malleable and still be able to create an amazing record. They don't need banjos to make a hit song. They just need heart and talent. Also, Marcus Mumford has such a unique voice which makes every song that much better.

Their full album titled "Wilder Mind" will be released May 4th in the US, but right now it's available for pre-order. Personally, even without the banjos, I think this is going to be one of the top records of the year. Mumford and Sons is just a band that is relatable and original.  So check out the song, and have a good week!
