Top 5 Favorite Songs

So sorry about the lack of posts over the past couple weeks! My computer died, and I had to send it into Apple for about a week. Safe to say I was a bit annoyed, but I'm back! Forewarning, today's post is all my personal preference, but I think it tells you a lot about a person when they tell you their five favorite songs. So here's mine (in no particular order):

1. Give Me Love // Ed Sheeran

Now it's not a shock that I love Ed Sheeran because he's probably my favorite artist ever. Picking only one of his songs is hard for me to do, but there's just something about this one. The emotion that gets conveyed through it, well it gives me shivers everytime I listen to it. Some people might find it melodramatic, but I can't help but be entranced by it. I can't help my sympathize when I listen to Sheeran's cries at the end. It's heartbreaking and so well done. (This might be my all time favorite song, but it changes hourly)

2. Keep Your Head Up // Ben Howard

Again, it's obvious I love Ben Howard, but this song it just superb in my opinion. It has so many layers to it. Most people just think that Howard is saying to be happy and move on, but if you look deeper, he's saying to be happy with yourself. Don't let your happiness depend on anyone or anything other than yourself. I just love love love that message. Also the song has a lot of folk undertones which amaze me as well.

3. Chasing Cars // Snow Patrol

This one might be a bit of a curveball, but it's amazing nonetheless. This song is just a classic. No matter how many days or years go by without me listening to this song, I can always come back to it and be blown away. This song is great to listen to if you're feeling nostalgic, but also if you're just looking to find nice and relaxing background noise. Great song if you just want to chill and forget your worries.

4. I Gave You All // Mumford & Sons

This has always been my favorite Mumford & Sons' song. One thing I love about M&S is that their lyrics are always so intricate and complex. This song is a great example of that fact. Other than this song containing my favorite lyric to ever exist, (If only I had an enemy better than my apathy, I could have won) it also has such a haunting melody. Some people might find it boring, but I think it fits so well with the song, and then the ending is just so so intense. It's all around so good.

5. Defying Gravity // Idina Menzel & Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked)

Wicked has always been my favorite musical because I love the Wizard of Oz. Defying Gravity has also always been one of my favorite songs because the vocals are just killer. The notes Idina Menzel hits slay me everytime. The song also occurs at a very dramatic moment in the musical, so it's just so intense and emotional. Defying Gravity is just one of those classic show tunes that are too good for this world. I also love the song so much that it was my theme for my graduation hat. I go too hard.

So that's that! My top five favorite songs as they are currently. I'll probably change my mind after posting these, but here you go. I would really like to know your guys' top five favs, so if you want comment below with what they are. Have a good week!
